This Lego Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory brings the classic movie to life

Sorry, Tim Burton, Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory is still our favourite movie version of Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. So we’re delighted to see this Lego Ideas Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory 21360 set bringing it to life. And, even better, it’s less than a month away from release.
The set, based on the Gene Wilder movie, shows the Golden Ticket winners on the Wonkatania boat, wending their way down the chocolate river. That’s just one small part of the film, admittedly. But you’d need at least ten sets to recreate the whole movie, and it took the set’s creators several months to perfect this one.
It’s the work of Lego wizards Roberto Ceruti and Jody Padulano, who submitted their idea to the Lego Ideas’s site. The original submission is very similar to the final Lego Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory 21360 set, save for the addition of the Wonkatania.
The final set’s waterfall isn’t motorised, but you can turn it with a handle to make it flow. In short, it captures the whimsy of 1971’s Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, with just a dab of menace from Lego Willy Wonka.
Made up of 2,025 pieces, the set is priced at £199.99/$219.99. It’s rated for builders aged 18 or over, but with 9 Lego minifigures (Willy Wonka, Charlie Bucket, Grandpa Joe, Augustus Gloop, Mike Teavee, 2 Oompa Loompas, Veruca Salt and Violet Beauregarde) there’s real play potential here. You can even turn the set around to reveal Willy Wonka’s office.
So when can you get your hands on Lego Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory 21360 set? It’ll be available from 18th September 2025, but Lego Insiders can purchase it directly from Lego from 15th September 2025. There’s no word on whether there’ll be a Wonkatastic Gift With Purchase, but we’ve got our fingers crossed.
