Lego unveils a mega-size Mario Kart Luigi & Mach 8 set

It’s a-me, Luigi, in a Lego Mario Kart set that outside’s Mario’s own ‘standard’ kart.

After Mario got his own Lego Mario Kart model last year, Lego has finally followed up with a Luigi Mario Kart model. It’s about time, too. Now we can enjoy Luigi giving his brother his famous death stare as he leaves him in the dust.

Priced at £159.99 and for builders aged 18+, it costs £10 more than his brother Mario’s set, but that may well be because it boats 2,234 pieces compared to Mario’s 1,972. Luigi’s behind the wheel of a Mach 8 kart (introduced in Mario Kart 8), instead of a standard kart.

In what has to be a reference to the famous meme, Lego’s primary promotional image has him gazing right at the viewer. Luigi’s head and arms are also poseable so, if for some reason, you don’t want to unleash his gaze of doom, you can him actually keeping his eye on the track.

Another cool feature is that, compared to the Lego Mario Kart – Luigi & Mach 8 72050 set, it has stars on its wheel. Unfortunately, it’s not out yet but you can pre-order it from Lego. We can see both it and the original Lego Mario Kart Mario model being in demand.

We’ve also got our fingers crossed that Lego will restock the Lego Insiders-exclusive Blue Shell or, at least, swap it out for some other Mario Kart power-up. A blocky banana, maybe? It’s also possible that there’ll be a special Lego Mario Kart Gift With Purchase but we wouldn’t count on it.

You can pre-order the Lego Mario Kart – Luigi & Mach 8 72050 set right now and it should ship from April 1st. The original Lego Mario Kart Mario model is also still available.
