This Lego Iron Man alternate build is nothing short of brilliant
You know, that’s really hard on your knees. Totally impractical.
Are you on the fence about buying Lego’s Iron Man Mark 3 Collectors’ Edition set? Then this amazing community alternate build is sure to change your mind, even if it can’t be good for Tony Stark’s knees.
Lego’s Iron Man set has Tony Stark standing around doing.. well, not much, really. You can adjust his pose but, with his legs acting as support, he’ll forever be in an upright position. However, all that changes with Reddit user Lloyd2333’s alternate build.
Lloyd2333’s alternate build puts Iron Man in a superhero landing pose which, despite being heavily mocked by Deadpool, looks utterly awesome. It also uses the same pieces as the original Lego Iron Man Mark 3 Collectors’ Edition set, so you’re good to go if you own that set.
“Because the set doesn’t include many dedicated joint elements, the knees are still structurally fixed — the change comes from reconfiguring the lower body geometry rather than increasing articulation,” Lloyd2333 comments on Reddit.
“The goal wasn’t to make it more playable, but to give the Mark 3 a more cinematic and recognizable presence on the shelf,” they add, stating that they’ll be showing the set off at FAN EXPO Vancouver.
Best of all, they’ve released the instructions for this alternate Iron Man build and it’s absolutely free. You can download the instructions from Rebrickable and, if you’ve not already taken the plunge, buy the Lego Iron Man Mark 3 Collectors’ Edition set here.
