This Lego Maersk Dual-Fuel Container Vessel 40955 sails out soon, but will sticker fatigue set in?
Lego’s third Maersk ship, the Lego Maersk Dual-Fuel Container Vessel sails out this March.
We’re big fans of nautical Lego and so we were overjoyed to hear that Lego is again partnering up with Maersk for a new Lego Maersk Dual-Fuel Container Vessel 40955 set. And, even better, this set is setting sail this March 1st!
Admittedly it might not look as swish as some other similarly-themed sets, but there’s something about this Lego container ship’s liminal vibes that we dig. We can almost imagine leaping aboard with a crowbar and just cracking containers open, like a sea-based version of Storage Wars.
It’s not the first time Lego has teamed up with logistics company Maersk. 2004 saw the release of the Maersk Line Container Ship 10152 and, ten years later, we got the Lego Creator Expert Maersk Line Triple-E 10241 set. So how does this new set, based on the Ane Maersk, measure up?
It’s 7 in. (18 cm) high, 23.5 in. (60 cm) long and 4.5 in. (12 cm) wide, made up of 1516 pieces, compared to the 2014 set’s 8” (21cm) height, 25” (65cm) length and 3” (9cm) width. In other words, it’s a little shorter and lower, but wider with it.
That’s not a deal-breaker for us. Priced at £139.99/$149.99, we’re just happy to have a Maersk set that’s not retired and going for silly money on eBay. It’s rated for builders age 12+, which is a surprise since this set might not be suited to small fingers. Heck, we can see ourselves shaking our fists at it.

How so? Because much as we love the look of this set, which also boasts an opening bridge and other play-friendly details, we’re a little nervous about its potential sticker count. Even if the stickers span multiple mini-containers, as they appear to do from the picture, that’s still at least 44 stickers to apply!
While this Lego Applicator trick makes things easier, that’s 44 chances a sticker will attract hair or dust, get torn, or encounter some other mishap. And, while this is maybe just the OCD part of our brains speaking, if they’re not lined up perfectly with adjacent containers, we won’t be able to unsee it. We’ve got our fingers crossed that this Lego Maersk Dual-Fuel Container Vessel 40955 will, instead, include printed elements.
Whatever the case, this set is just weeks away from setting sail. It’s not currently available for pre-order, but the Lego Maersk Dual-Fuel Container Vessel 40955 set releases this March 1st.
