Lego reveals Star Wars Yoda and Darth Vader busts, but we’re scared of the wrong one

Terrified, you will be.

Lego has confirmed there are two new Lego Star Wars busts dropping on April 26th, of Jedi Master Yoda and Sith menace Darth Vader. However, we’re scared of the wrong one.

As spotted by BrickSet, these sets are priced at £34.99 for Yoda 75438 and £44.99 for Darth Vader 75439 (though that set has 349 pieces compared to Yoda’s 399). Their existence was actually leaked a couple of days prior. Now, while they’ve yet to appear on Lego.com, Lego has officially unveiled them, confirming their April release.

However, the former set has come in for some mockery and we can absolutely understand why. While Darth Vader is meant to be the more menacing of the two, Yoda feels seriously off, with a strange, squat head (more squat than usual) and eyes that gaze into your soul.

Go on, take a good long look. We’ll wait.

See what we mean? His mouth is also offputting though the more we think about it, the more we suspect that his existence as a bust contributes to his fear factor. This now-retired Lego Yoda set shows Yoda from head to foot, and you can clearly take in his squat form.

However, with this set, our brains default to seeing him as human sized, so we’re imagining a long, human sized body beneath his shoulders, an uncanny image we wish we could forget about. Heck, we’d run to the Empire to escape this lanky menace.

Both these sets are set to launch this April 26th. Each comes with a Lego minifigure which, in the case of Yoda, is rather less unsettling. Lego has previously put out a Vader mini-bust, albeit a smaller one, but it looks as if they’re kicking off a new range with their duo, echoing the Lego Marvel Iron Spider-Man and Lego Iron Man minibusts.
