Build like it’s 2005 with this Microsoft Xbox 360 MEGA set
Want an Xbox 360 that won’t ever get the red ring of death? This Target-exclusive Mega Xbox 360 building block set will let you make one.
Lego may have given us the Lego Icons Nintendo Entertainment System and Lego Icons Atari 2600, but the Mattel-owned Mega has skipped a few generations. It’s gone straight to the Xbox 360 with its latest Mega set, the Microsoft Xbox 360 Collector MEGA Building Set.
If you’ve missed out on MEGA, or Mega (because at this rate we’re going to wear out our shift key) they’ve put out a whole range of licensed sets. These have ranged from Mattel’s own Masters of the Universe all the way through to Pokemon. And now you can build your own original-model Xbox 360 replica, with a controller and a similarly non-functional copy of Halo 3.
The set looks rather excellent though, like Lego’s own console sets, it’s a little pricey for its complexity. Made up of 1342 blocks and for builders over 18, it’s a Target-exclusive set, priced at $149.99. Given how cool it looks we’re hoping that, in the grand tradition of console games, it’s a timed exclusive. It’s a 3:4 scale model, meaning it’ll be about 9 inches in height.
However, there is a bit of bad news if you were planning on snapping this up. It’s set to arrive this October 8th but pre-orders have already sold out. Hopefully more stock will be incoming because this looks like the perfect retro shelf warmer. But it’s worth checking the Microsoft Xbox 360 Mega Set page just in case Target releases more stock.
Now, if you’ll excuse us, we’re off to build a blocky towel. You know, just in case.
