Meet the mysterious astronaut minifigure you can’t buy
This cool Lego astronaut is not available to purchase, anywhere.
Lego regularly retires sets, meaning that unless you’re willing to pay silly money on eBay, they’re forever out of your reach. But there’s one mysterious Lego astronaut minifigure which has never actually been on sale, and Lego fans are doing somersaults trying to track her down.
The figure in question is a pigtail-wearing astronaut, who has appeared on the cover of at least two Lego print catalogues including the Late Holiday 2024 catalogue. But, as spotted by Reddit user lowlight23, she’s not a figure you can purchase.
Unless we and the rest of the internet have missed it, she’s not featured in any of Lego’s blind bag minifigure series. And while some of her components, the helmet included, are genuine Lego pieces, Lego has never officially put them together, outside of these catalogues.
She’s certainly a cool looking figure, though she has been the subject of a little mockery. One of her legs looks longer than the other though, as with the infamous Ready Player One poster, it could just be a bad angle.
Others have questioned just how much protection from the void those pigtails would offer. “That’s not pigtails, that’s her brains oozing out into the vacuum of space,” quips one Reddit user. Some have suggested she’s intended to be a mascot, hence her multiple appearances. She’s also cropped-up on in-store posters.
What we can say for certain is that if Lego chooses to include her in any of its future sets, blind bag figures or otherwise, we’d snap her up. Or, worst case scenario, we could always make her ourselves.
