Prince Florian & Castle Bowser set join the Lego Super Mario line-up

It’s a-him, Prince Florian, pursued by Castle Bowser, in Lego’s latest Super Mario set.

Lego Super Mario Prince Florian & Castle Bowser

Whether you’re a fan of Super Mario Bros Wonder or just want a really cool set to add to your already massive Super Mario collection, you’ll be happy to hear that Lego has just unveiled its Lego Prince Florian & Castle Bowser set.

Arriving this August, this set is right out of Super Mario Bros Wonder, 2023’s Nintendo Switch game. That title introduces Prince Florian, ruler of the Flower Kingdom, the realm that villain Bowser has taken over. Now, he’s making is Lego debut with this set.

Priced at £89.99, the 1251 piece Lego Prince Florian & Castle Bowser 72042 set won’t break the bank. But it does look rather cool, and will interact with other digitally-enabled Super Mario Bros sets. There’s no Bowser minifigure because, in a strange, twist, Bowser and the castle are one. But you do get figures of a Pink Yoshi, a Fiery Note Piranha, Prince Florian and Wonder Bowser Jr.

Suitable for builders aged 9 or over, the set very much has play in mind. Lego states you can “Lift Castle Bowser off the stand and set down to reveal the interior, including a cell for Prince Florian, and lift the whole castle off the stand (or just the top part) to ’fly’ around”.

So when can you get your hands on this Lego Prince Florian & Castle Bower set? It’s available from August 1st, via Lego’s official site and we’d expect to see it pop up on store shelves, too. There’s currently no early pre-order option for Lego Insiders, so mark that date on your calendar.

That’s not the only Mario set dropping on that day, however. There are several other Mario and Mario Kart sets arriving too, but only one that matters, this Lego Mario Kart – Wario & King Boo 72038 set. Finally, five years after the series launch, we’re getting Lego Wario! Now, if only Lego would do the right thing and give him some The Mighty Bowser treatment.
