Update 13th September: Lego has officially unveiled the ‘Lego Disney 100 Celebration’ set, now called ‘Magic of Disney’. Our original article was based on a Reddit leak, but we’ve now updated the article with official information.

Originally leaked earlier this month thanks to Reddit, Lego has now finally unveiled the Lego Ideas Magic of Disney set. It’s come about due to a Lego Ideas contest held last year, and although some substantial changes have been made to the original model — most notably the minifigures included — we still think the finished model looks fantastic.

Lego Ideas 21352 Magic of Disney depicts a brick-built Fantasia-era Mickey Mouse surrounded by small dioramas from a selection of Disney movies from throughout the years. If you’re a Disney fan, we think this one is going to be a must-have.

Mickey is accompanied by a number of minifigures. There’s Gepetto (from Pinocchio), Lilo (from Lilo & Stitch), Simba (from The Lion King), Belle (from Beauty and the Beast), Bruno (from Encanto) and Sebastian and Flounder (from The Little Mermaid).

Each minifigure comes with a small scene to match the movie they’re from: Gepetto has a little sailboat, for example, where Simba is stood on Pride Rock. There’s also a set of walking mops, as seen in Fantasia.

It’s not that huge a set, but it’s certainly substantial enough. It’s 7.5 inches tall, 10.5 inches wide and 6.5 inches deep — so ideal for displaying on a shelf without taking up too much space.

The Magic of Disney set is an 18+ set, made up of 1,103 pieces. It will release on October 1st with a price tag of £89.99 That sounds pretty reasonable to us. And if you think so too, pre-orders are open right now.

  1. If this is a real leak I wonder why they kicked out almost every important minifigure (why Aladdin and Arielle???) for this selection. It no longer looks like Disney highlights without Frozen and Aladdin. Also 2A2A’s Mickey looks better. But the main thing for me is that Belle is included as a minifigure. Otherwise I’d be really disappointed. If Simba is also included, that would be great. But he looks like a Lego friends figure…

    1. I’m assuming it’s a real leak, but as always with leaks we have to take them with a pinch of salt! I agree, the selection of minifigures seems pretty random, but then I suppose Lego’s selection often is (look at the Disney 100 Celebration Train from last year). I’m still pretty hyped for it though – I imagine we’ll get a real announcement soon (and I’ll update this post when we do).
