Just 24 hours after LEGO teased an upcoming Star Wars set, it’s revealed what it is: a buildable R2-D2 model. And not just any R2-D2 model: the biggest one yet.
LEGO Star Wars R2-D2 stands 31cm high and is made of 2,314 pieces. It comes with an UCS-style informational plaque, a minifig-scale R2-D2 and a special Lucasfilm 50th Anniversary printed brick.
The brick-built R2-D2 features plenty of details that fans will love. He comes with a retractable mid-leg, a head that rotates and a periscope. There are also hidden tools to be found within the model’s body, including a lightsaber hilt.
Needless to say, LEGO Star Wars R2-D2 is going to be a must-buy for any Star Wars fan. It’s not the first time there’s been a buildable R2-D2, but with the most recent retiring back in 2014 it’s been quite a while. This one is the biggest yet, packing in more detail than ever before.
If you want to get your hands on him, you won’t have to wait very long: it’s available from 1st May exclusively from LEGO stores and LEGO.com.
And here’s the all-important piece of information: the price. LEGO Star Wars R2-D2 will cost £179.99/$199.
