The beautiful Lego Icons Kingfisher flies onto shelves on 1st February

Lego has officially unveiled the Kingfisher, a beautiful and realistic bird model flapping its way into stores on 1st February.

Following on from Lego’s ‘Botanicals’ range, the Lego Icons Kingfisher forms part of a brand new ‘fauna’ collection. It’ll be the second set, joining the Macaw Parrots which released earlier this month.

Like all Lego Icons sets, the Kingfisher is aimed at adults, offering a delicate and intricate build which leads to a model that makes an excellent display piece. Despite costing just £44.99/$49.99, it’s made of 834 pieces, making this a surprisingly decently-sized set. We expect a lot of little pieces, but with a wingspan of 12 inches/30cm, the finished model will be plenty big enough.

We love the colours here, with the Kingfisher’s orange chest providing an eye-catching juxtaposition to the vibrant blue of its wings. It’s perched on a display plinth decorated to look like water, and two reeds stick out from behind it, providing some contextual detail.

Like the look of the Lego Icons Kingfisher? It’ll be available in stores from 1st February. More information can be found on the official Lego website.
