Ever wanted your own sixties sports car, but couldn’t afford and/or justify it? Lego’s got you covered, albeit on a much smaller scale, with its Lego Icons Shelby Cobra 427 S/C set, coming this July.
This set features the seriously sleek Shelby Cobra 427 S/C and while it’s intended for show, there are some seriously cool action features. It boasts a detailed engine, a steering wheel that works and opening and closing doors, boot included.
This Lego Icons Shelby Cobra 427 S/C set also includes a little toolbox, complete with tools, and a $100 bill element. The latter is a reference to the possibly apocryphal prank that designer Carrol Shelby would pull. He would allegedly put a $100 on the dash of a car and, as he accelerated, challenge his passenger to grab the money. If they did, they could keep it, but they apparently never succeeded.
The set is a 1:10 model of the car, and is 30cm from bumper to bumper. It’s made up of 1,241 pieces, and rated for builders aged 18 or over. As for the price, this undeniable cool set costs £139.99 / $159.99, and it’s available to all from July 4th.
However, if you’re a Lego Insider (membership is free) you can pick it up from July 1st, direct from the Lego online store. There’s no pre-order option, but there may be a new Gift With Purchase available at the beginning of July.
