This Lego Ideas Jumanji set celebrates the original Robin Williams movie
Let’s hope you don’t end up with a Lego rhino in your front room.
Remember Jumanji? Not the version with The Rock, the original Robin Williams 1995 original? Lego builder BricktacularBuilds2 absolutely does, which is why they’ve crafted this awesome Lego Ideas Jumanji set. Now, it’s just a few hundred votes away from the magic 10,000 it needs to be considered by Lego.
“I am a BIG fan of the movie Jumanji (directed by Joe Johnston) and have watched it too many times to count. And I know so many others who feel the same way about this Classic. It’s one I enjoyed as a child and it still brings out my imagination to this day,” BricktacularBuilds2 explains.
The recent sequels take place in the game itself. But the original Jumanji has the supernatural board game ejecting jungle animals into the real world. Robin Williams’ character, Alan Parrish, who’s been trapped inside, is also released and as you might expect, chaos ensues.
This Lego Ideas Jumanji set resembles the in-universe board game, and opens up to reveal the game’s board. At least that’s what you initially see. Look closer, and you can discover a hidden Alan Parrish figure, locked away inside the board game for 25 years.
There’s no yanking the lid off as you do with real-world board games. It “..opens and closes seamlessly leaving no gaps for any wild animals to escape”, resembling the original wood-crafted Jumanji set. BricktacularBuilds2 hasn’t said how many bricks it’s made up of but this set was clearly a labour of love.
Now, sitting at 9,458 votes with 229 days left, it’s almost certainly going to hit its 10,000 target which, in turn, will qualify it to be reviewed by Lego. That doesn’t guarantee it’ll get made, since a lot of Lego-reviewed sets don’t, but since we’ve got fond memories of the movie ourselves, we’ve got our fingers crossed.
