Lego has revealed two new Marvel ‘bust’ sets: Iron Man and Iron Spider-Man
Could this be the start of a new range?
It looks like Lego is sneaking out a new sub-theme of sets, with two new Marvel sets appearing on the website today. We’re getting an Iron Man and an Iron Spider-Man set, but it’s the form they take that’s interesting us most: they are busts. Sort-of like Lego’s existing helmet range, but with a slightly smaller piece count, smaller heads, and the inclusion of shoulders and a bit of torso.
It’s an interesting idea, but we’re not blown away by what Lego has released so far. Iron Man doesn’t look too bad, but considering we already have an Iron Man helmet (granted, it’s retired now), we’d rather just display that. As for Iron Spider-Man? We’re not convinced. There’s just something about it that doesn’t look quite… right.
Then there’s the (Iron) elephant in the room: the price of these sets. They’re both set to retail at £54.99. It doesn’t sound too extortionate for a Marvel-branded set, but the Iron Spider-Man is only 379 pieces. That’s an eye-watering mark-up and one we’re not sure we can get behind.
Still, we like that each of these sets comes with a minifigure of the character it represents, something we’ve always wished the Helmets range would’ve adopted. But is that alone enough to warrant the price? We don’t think so.
Lego Marvel 76327 Iron Man MK4 bust is made up of 436 pieces, and will ship on 1st June. Lego Marvel 76326 Lego Spider-Man will ship on 1st August. Both sets are roughly 6.5 inches high, and pre-orders for both are open now.
