Lego unveils its first Lego Minecraft Advent Calendar but there’s a shocking omission

We’re not even half way through the year yet!

We’re not even halfway through the year but Lego is already getting ready for Christmas by revealing a trio of new advent calendars. That includes the usual suspects; a Star Wars and a Disney Advent calendar but the biggest surprise is that, this year, we’re getting a Lego Minecraft advent calendar!

Lego Minecraft Advent Calendar 2025 21280 features, as you might expect, a host of Minecraft characters, animals and items. We can spot Steve and Alex, the game’s primary protagonists, there’s a villager dressed as Santa, a creeper, and many others.

So why now? Lego has had the Minecraft licence for 12 years and they’re only now putting out a calendar? Lego’s decision likely has to do with the massive, massive popularity of the Minecraft movie, which has gone on to become the most profitable video game movie of all time.

However, with that in mind, there’s one shocking omission. As far as we can tell, there’s absolutely no Chicken Jockey, the chicken-riding zombie that has had some audiences yelling at the screen. You can, however, get him as part of this Lego Minecraft Woodland Mansion Fighting Ring set.

So what about the other sets? Three have been announced so far which, including the Minecraft one, are as follows:

All three are priced at £29.99/$44.99 and will be available to order from September 1st. There’s no news on what other advent calendars are on the way, but we expect there’ll be Lego City and Lego Friends advent calendars. We’d also be very surprised if there isn’t a Marvel one coming this year.
