Lego’s Botanical Collection Orchid is so convincing it can fool even cats

How convincing is Lego’s Botanical Collection? This Lego Orchid fooled its builder’s cat.

Lego Orchid

We’re big fans of Lego’s Botanical Collection, and they’re certainly impressive-looking sets, and each set absolutely captures the essence of the plant or plants they’re based on. Despite that, if you told us they’d fool cats we’d never have believed you.

However, that’s exactly what happened to one Lego builder who, sick of their cat munching on real flowers, decided to buy some Lego ones, a Lego Orchid included. They put together Lego’s Botanical Collection Orchid set, placed it on their windowsill, and… their cat nibbled on it anyway.

That cat in question was orange and there’s a stereotype that orange cats don’t quite have the smarts of other moggies. It’s not grounded in science, but the ‘all orange cats share one brain cell’ trope persists and this incident, posted to Reddit, doesn’t dispel the rumours.

We do have to tip our hat to Jibargab_M for actually taking the original flowers away. Some plants are toxic to cats and even if they’re not immediately poisonous can build up in their system. We’ve taken to putting our Amaryllis out of reach because our own mog keeps munching on the dry leaves.

The Lego Orchid wasn’t the only casualty of this cat, either. Jibargab_M is also having to reassemble their Lego Bonsai Tree because the leaves have been nibbled. On the plus side, this could be one heck of a marketing opportunity for Lego. Maybe they should get in touch with the owner of this easily-fooled feline?
