Lego commemorates NASA’s reusable space vehicle with this Lego Icons Shuttle Carrier Aircraft set
Celebrate the Space Shuttle’s heyday with this Lego Icons Shuttle Carrier Aircraft 10360 set.

Remember the Space Shuttle? Lego absolutely does, and they’re memorializing it with the Lego Icons Shuttle Carrier Aircraft 10360 set. This striking set features both the space shuttle and the jetliner that was used to ferry it from place to place.
More specifically, it’s a Boeing 747 and NASA Space Shuttle Enterprise, both of which can be displayed separately. The Space Shuttle was never actually launched from a jet, despite Superman Returns’ lies, but this is nevertheless a very, very cool set.
It’s made up of 2,417 pieces, rated for builders aged 18+ and priced at £199.99 / $229.99. The set is large enough to dominate a shelf or tabletop and, with the Shuttle atop the Boeing, it measures 10.5 in. (27 cm) high, 25 in. (63 cm) long and 21 in. (53.5 cm) wide.

Although this is aimed at adults, there’s some interactivity. For a start, you can raise and lower the Boeing’s landing gear, and the shuttle features an attachable tail cone, detachable engines, and stowable landing gear tucked inside its cargo bay.
It’s not the first time Lego has given us the Space Shuttle; there’s the now-retired Lego Space Shuttle Discovery set and the still-available Lego Creator Space Shuttle. It’s good to see them revisiting it, even though NASA retired the vehicle around 15 years or so ago. As Lego puts it, it played “a crucial role in shaping the future of space travel,” and was involved in the building of the International Space Station.
The Lego Icons Shuttle Carrier Aircraft set takes off this May 18th. While there doesn’t appear to be a when-bought-with gift, Lego Insiders can buy it from May 15th, via Lego’s website.
