Lego VIP Days are here to rival Amazon Prime Day
From today, 11th July, until Saturday 15th July, Lego is running a special “VIP Days” event. It’s no coincidence that this also coincides with Amazon Prime Day – Lego wants its own excuse to get people spending money. But despite promising plenty of special offers for VIP members, there’s not a great deal to write home about with the event.
Despite LEGO’s homepage promising “five days of member-only gifts and more”, suggesting multiple offers and promotions, all we’re really getting is an opportunity to pick up a couple of previous gift with purchase sets and double reward points on certain sets. Lego has had better random events, that’s for sure.
You’ll earn 2X VIP reward points if you buy sets from LEGO City, Friends, Technic and Harry Potter ranges between now and Saturday 15th July. That means you’ll earn approximately 10% back of the cost of your purchase (rather than the standard 5%).
Next, if you spend more than £200 ($220 in the USA), you’ll get two free gifts: Blacktron Cruiser and Bionicle Tahu and Takua. Both have been free gifts before (albeit separately). There’s also the addition of a Fun & Funky Add-On pack for any purchases of £45 or more.
And… that’s about it. We’re certainly not going to be rushing to the Lego store to engage in the VIP Days event.
