Lego is releasing a new space rocket to coincide with the upcoming Pharrell Williams movie

Did you know that there’s a new Lego movie on its way? No, we’re not talking The Lego Movie, or even the Lego Batman or Lego Ninjago Movie. It’s a Lego movie… about Pharrell Williams. You know, the rapper. It’s called Piece by Piece, and it’s a biopic like you’ve never seen before. In that it’s made from Lego and, judging by the trailer, is completely bonkers.

Over the Moon with Pharrell Williams

Today, Lego has announced the first set release that ties in with the movie. It’s called Over the Moon with Pharrell Williams — and bizarrely, it’s an 18+ set. We’d have thought the film, and therefore its sets, would have been aimed at a younger audience, so it seems a weird choice. But it’s a pretty eye-catching set: the focus of it is a black space shuttle-type rocket with a large plume of rainbow-coloured smoke coming out of it.

As the smoke plume acts as sort-of a base for the set, it appears that the rocket is suspended in mid-air: it’s very effective, actually, and a rather eye-catching piece. We’d have no idea it had anything to do with Pharrell Williams on its own — it could be a standard Lego space set.

A wall of… minifigure heads?

Accompanying the set are two full minifigures (Pharrell and Helen Williams) and a stand that’s comprised of 49 minifigure heads. Yes, 49! But they are just heads, so perhaps don’t get too excited.

Lego Over the Moon with Pharrell Williams is made up of 966 pieces, and it measures 49cm in height. It’s no slouch, then. It does come with a price tag of £94.99, though, so it’s not cheap — but considering the size of the set (and the fact you’re getting so many minifigure heads) it’s not completely unreasonable.

Piece by Piece is coming to cinemas on 11th October. But you can get your hands on the Over the Moon with Pharrell Williams even sooner: it lands in stores on 20th September. Pre-orders at Lego.com are open now.
