The Disney Pixar Luxo Jr. will become an official Lego Ideas set
This light’s finally getting the chance to shine bright.
Way back in 2023, a Disney Pixar Luxo Jr. set submitted to the Lego Ideas program and designed by T0BY1KENOBI25150 was selected for further consideration. Now, a year later, there’s good news: the set will actually make it into production as a new Lego Ideas set.
Originally submitted to Lego Ideas in September 2022, it took roughly a year for T0BY1KENOBI25150 to garner those all-important 10,000 votes. The set’s remained in limbo since, with Lego neither approving or rejecting it from the review process. Finally, it has been released from purgatory today with the excellent news it will be an official set. Eventually, anyway.
We say eventually, because it joins a list of six other approved Lego Ideas sets still to come to fruition. With a set being released roughly every three or four months, it’s likely at least another year until we see the Disney Pixar Luxo Jr. set come to fruition. Still, it looks like it’ll be worth the wait.
The original set looks to be fairly small, although the lamp has fully-functional movement, which looks really neat. The ball has been very cleverly made using circular plates, and while the Ideas submission doesn’t incorporate it, its description does note it would be easy to include a light block to make the lamp actually light up. We wonder if this is something Lego might incorporate into the final version.
Undoubtedly the set will undergo numerous changes leading up to its full release, but we look forward to seeing the finished product. And congratulations to T0BY1KENOBI25150 for finally getting the green light on their excellent design.
