This working Lego Ideas clock is absolutely cuckoo
This Lego Ideas cuckoo clock isn’t just for show.

We’ve seen some amazing Lego Ideas builds, but this working Lego Ideas cuckoo clock is absolutely wild, and it’s well on its way gathering enough votes to be assessed by the Lego team. It boasts adjustable handles, a cuckoo that pops out every minute, 15 minutes or hour, and it’s even self-winding!
So what’s the catch, apart from the fact this isn’t an actual set you can buy as yet? As builder marginibuilds puts it, it may not be 100% accurate, so if this does end up on store shelves, you probably shouldn’t rely on it to get you up for work in time. But this is still an amazing accomplishment.
The build, simply dubbed ‘Working Cuckoo Clock’, has an actual analogue clock movement, including weights taken from a Lego 42146 Liebherr Crawler Crane. That set alone costs £580, so marginibuilds has put their heart and wallet into this one.

Over at Lego Ideas, Marginibuilds explains they wanted to a Lego set where the process for building the set is near identical to build the actual item it’s modelled on.
“Some LEGO sets let you approximate building the real thing. I wanted to build this because I knew it would involve, on some level, actually building the real thing. And it was a blast — easily the most complex, challenging, and interesting LEGO project I’ve ever undertaken. I hope you get to build it, too!”, they remark.
We’re hoping the same. Certainly, with over 7,000 supporters, this Lego Working Cuckoo Clock is well on the way to having a chance to become an official set. If you want to lend it your support, head over to Lego Ideas and get voting.
