You’ll be able to build a Lego Game Boy this October

A brick-built Game Boy? Yes please!

The partnership between Lego and Nintendo is set to bear more fruit, with Nintendo of Europe today revealing that we’ll be own to a Game Boy made of Lego bricks this October.

The announcement came via X, where the official Nintendo of Europe account posted a short video with the message “Build the classic Nintendo system in LEGO form. Coming October 2025.” Only by watching the video is the classic Nintendo system referred to actually revealed: the Game Boy, released way back in 1989 in Japan and America, and 1990 in Europe.

It seems a bit strange announcing the set so early – Lego usually likes to announce a set and release it quickly after. In any case, we’re very happy to learn that a brick-built Game Boy is on the way. It’s one of the best and most beloved consoles ever made, and with its blocky nature we imagine that one made out of Lego will look very convincing.

All that remains now, aside from a long wait, is a glimpse of the actual thing. Will it have some neat touches like the brick-built NES? We imagine it will come with some game cartridges at least, and perhaps a game will be displayed on its screen. Needless to say, we’ll be keeping a keen eye out for more news on the Lego Game Boy throughout the year.
