We need this Lego Ideas Astro Bot in our lives — and only two days left to vote
Such a delightful little bot!
Despite PlayStation’s Astro Bot game only releasing this month, CommanderFoxQ’s Lego Ideas Astro Bot submission dates way back to January 2023. Astro Bot isn’t new, of course: the adorable little robots featured in the PS5 bundled game, Astro’s Playroom and, before that, a PSVR game called Astro Bot: Rescue Mission.
What is Lego Ideas Spotlight?
Lego Ideas Spotlight is a regular feature where we highlight some of our favourite Lego Ideas submissions. These are usually early submissions that still have a long way to go before reaching the review stage. That means there’s no guarantee the sets we feature here will ever become official sets. Rather, we like to celebrate clever and unique designs of talented Lego fans. To see more of our favourite Lego Ideas submissions, click here.
But with the super-successful release of Astro Bot on PS5, the white-and-blue robot is ultra popular again. (It’s no wonder, when the game is so good: you can read about Astro Bot on GameSpew, our sister site.) And so, that makes it extra sad that CommanderFoxQ’s submission of this ultra-realistic little bot only has two days to garner over 3,000 votes, otherwise it will be kicked out of the running.
You see, a Lego Ideas submission needs to reach 10,000 votes before it can be placed in front of a Lego panel to be judged for a chance to be made into a real, retail set. There are several goalposts to reach: 100 votes, 1,000 votes, 5,000 votes and then, finally, 10,000 votes. Each time a milestone is reached, a set is granted extra time to garner more votes. But CommanderFoxQ’s Astro Bot only has two days left to reach 5,000 votes.
We’d hate to see such an incredible recreation of Astro Bot miss out on a chance for success. It’s made up of 912 pieces, measuring roughly 30cm x 21.5cm when standing — the perfect size for this little guy, if you ask us.
We love that CommanderFoxQ has even built it out of real bricks to show it’s absolutely possible (many Lego Ideas submissions are designed using CAD software as opposed to real-life builds), and you can watch a timelapse of the build below:
We’re not sure what else to say other than: head on over to Lego Ideas and vote for Astro Bot. We want this on our shelves. You want this on your shelves. Heck, we all need this on our shelves. It’s absolutely free to vote: you just need to log in with a Lego Ideas account to do so.
