Lego’s The Lord of the Rings: The Shire gets its own hobbit-narrated trailer
My precioussss….

Lego’s The Lord of the Rings: The Shire set is just days away from release, and who better to introduce it than Sam Gamgee himself? The answer is, of course, Brian Blessed. But since he’s probably up Everest, here’s Sean Astin, who played Gamgee in Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings.
Lego has produced a mini-movie which shows off the upcoming Lego The Lord of the Rings: The Shire 10354 set. It does touch on the adventures of Frodo, Sam, Merry and Pippin, but it mostly focuses on their home The Shire, and all the shenanigans that happened before they left.
There’s Bilbo’s birthday party, Gandalf revealing the ring and much much more, squeezed into a minute in a half. Astin doesn’t quite go full Gamgee, there’s still a hint of his American accent there, but it’s a nice little flashback and we’d happily watch the whole trilogy in this style.
Though, if we’re honest, we already had our eye on the Lego The Lord of the Rings: The Shire 10354 even before Astin spoke a word. It’s an awesome-looking set, depicting the cozyness of Bilbo and Frodo’s home.
Made up of 2017 pieces, Lego The Lord of the Rings: The Shire features 9 minifigures. There’s Bilbo Baggins, Frodo, Mrs. Proudfoot, Farmer Proudfoot, Merry, Pippin, Rosie, Samwise and Gandalf the Grey. Let’s face it, it would be a party without everyone’s favourite pipe-weed smoking wizard.
And while it may not be as lofty as the massive Lego Barad-Dur, there’s plenty going on. The set features Bilbo’s hobbit-hole home, a tent, a party table, a stage and more. The set is 45 x 27 x 20cm and though rated for builders aged 18+ there’s definite play potential here.
So how do you get your hands on The Shire? If you’re a Lego Insider, you can pick it up from Lego from April 2 to April 4, priced £229.99/$269.99. The general public will have to wait until April 5, but it’s free to become a Lego insider.

Those who buy Lego The Lord of the Rings: The Shire from April 2 to April 8 will also receive a special Gift With Purchase. This time it’s a Lego The Lord of the Rings: Sméagol & Déagol which features both these characters in their hobbit forms. At least, it’s supposed to be available till April 8. In practice, you can expect it to sell out fast, possibly before non-Insiders get a chance.
So if you’re looking at this set, muttering ‘my precious…’ head to Lego.com this April 2, sign up as a Lego Insider if you’re not already one, and snag this Lego The Lord of the Rings: The Shire set.
