Time for some tiny wizard shopping.

Our original version of this story reported on a leak from Instagram user Fateful_Lego, and later shared on Reddit. Now Lego has officially revealed the set, we’ve updated the story with confirmed information and official set images.

Lego has finally lifted the lid on the micro-scale Diagon Alley set, rumoured back in October. Now officially unveiled as Lego Harry Potter 76444 Diagon Alley Wizarding Shops, it’s launching on 1st January and we’re unashamedly obsessed with this set. While we normally prefer minifigure-scale to micro-scale, the sheer amount of detail packed into this teeny street of buildings makes it absolutely wonderful.

Obviously, this isn’t like the Diagon Alley we’ve previously had. Being micro-scale, it contains a lot more buildings. Two sides of the streets are included, there’s a Gringott’s Wizarding Bank, and also a teeny model of the Knight Bus.

You’ll find just about every Diagon Alley store you can name on there, in fact — and more you probably forgot about. There’s Eeylops Owl Emporium, the Leaky Cauldron, Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes and The Daily Prophet HQ, just to name a few.

The set is made up of 2,750 pieces, and it’s priced at £169.99. That sounds very reasonable for a set of nearly 3,000 pieces — especially one that measures a whopping 88cm when it’s laid out fully horizontal.

That’s one thing we absolutely love about Diagon Alley Wizarding Shops: it can be arranged in a number of ways. It seems two sides of the street are on hinges, with Gringott’s Bank in the middle. The street can either fold out into one long arrangement, or close together to look like a real street with buildings either side. It’s almost like a book nook — it looks fantastic.

There are also 12 microfigures included with the set, although we’re not entirely sure we’d be able to correctly identify each of them. There’s of course Harry, Ron and Hermione, and, according to the Lego website, they’re accompanied by Fred Weasley, George Weasley, Lavender Brown, Ginny Weasley, Draco Malfoy, Narcissa Malfoy, Mr. Borgin “and more”.

If you like the look of Lego Harry Potter Diagon Alley Wizarding Shops, pre-orders are open now for a 1st January release. Do you think you’ll be picking this one up? We think it might just be at the top of our most-wanted list for January now — but it’s got some strong competition.
