The best Lego sets under £10 – Ideal stocking fillers and gift ideas

Lego doesn’t need to cost the Earth.

Best Lego sets under £10

We usually write about Lego sets that cost a fortune, but there are plenty of great sets that can be bought with pocket change. Here, we’re rounding up our favourite sets costing less than £10. These aren’t on offer, either: they’re under £10 at full price.

Our favourite Lego sets under £10 are suitable for kids and adults alike. Some of these models are great playsets, and some make great display pieces — perfect for sitting on the edge of your desk to brighten up your workspace. Some of these are even Creator 3-in-1 sets, allowing you to build three different models from the same pile of bricks.

So, whether you’re wanting a fun little build for yourself without breaking the bank, or you’re looking for the perfect stocking filler or secret santa gift for friends or family, look no further: here are the best Lego sets you can buy for under £10.

1. Lego 40220 Creator London Bus

  • Price: £8.49
  • Number of pieces: 118
  • Age: 7+

It might not be as impressive as the now-retired Creator Expert London Bus, but this little pocket money red bus is simply wonderful. It’s only made up of 118 pieces, but it’s instantly recognisable as the iconic London public transport vehicle. We absolutely love the mock movie ads that appear on either side, too. Only one thing would make this better: having a minifigure bus driver with it.

2. Lego Creator 40468 Yellow Taxi

  • Price: £8.99
  • Number of pieces: 124
  • Age: 7+

We’re going from London to New York now, with this iconic yellow taxi. Again, it doesn’t come with a minifigure, which is a shame, but it doesn’t detract from how wonderful this taxi looks. It’s even equipped with an advertising board on top, promoting some yummy New York pizza.

3. Lego Creator 3-in-1 31145 Red Dragon

  • Price: £8.99
  • Number of pieces: 149
  • Age: 6+

Here’s the first Creator 3-in-1 set we’re featuring in our round-up of the best Lego sets under £10. The Red Dragon is one of our favourites, and we don’t need to spell out why: just look how adorable it is! We love his moving limbs, but his loveable face wins us over every time. Aside from the dragon, you can also build this set into a phoenix or a fish.

4. Lego BrickHeadz 40674 Stitch

  • Price: £9.99
  • Number of pieces: 152
  • Age: 10+

Honestly, any single Lego BrickHeadz set makes an excellent purchase under £10. We’d absolutely love to find one of these in our stocking on Christmas morning. One of our favourites currently available is this model of Stitch, from Disney’s Lilo and Stitch. He’s instantly recognisable, and we love the shape of his head and ears. It feels a little more complex than other BrickHeadz models, despite being made up of only 152 pieces.

5. Lego Creator 40644 Pinata

  • Price: £8.99
  • Number of pieces: 206
  • Age: 8+

The Pinata is just delightful. Shaped like a donkey but adorned in a palette of beautiful colours, this Pinata actually comes in half, spilling out Lego dots to represent sweets and candy. We wouldn’t recommend actually whacking this one with a stick though, but keep it stood on a desk and it’ll make you smile every time you see it. The only problem? It’s set to retire soon, so if you don’t act fast it’ll likely cost much more than £10 on the second-hand market.

6. Lego Creator 3-in-1 Magical Unicorn

  • Price: £8.99
  • Number of pieces: 145
  • Age: 7+

The second Creator 3-in-1 set to grace our list of the best sets under £10 is this absolutely wonderful unicorn. It rivals the Pinata set in terms of colourfulness, with a gorgeous rainbow-coloured mane and tail. Since this is a 3-in-1 set, you can also build it into a seahorse or a peacock. They’re both great, but we’d choose the unicorn every time. Just look at it!

7. Lego Creator 40517 Vespa

Lego Creator 40517 Vespa

  • Price: £8.99
  • Number of pieces: 118
  • Age: 9+

It’s not as impressive as the Lego Icons Vespa it released alongside, but there’s something to be said for this teeny model of the Italian motorcycle. It’s rather incredible just how much a Lego designer can do with as few as 118 bricks: the shape achieved here is simply wonderful, and it’s unmistakable as a Vespa compared to any other motorcycle. Once again, though, you’ll find no minifigures here: this time, because it’s not minifigure-scale.

8. Lego Technic 42163 Heavy Duty Bulldozer

Lego Technic 42163 Heavy Duty Bulldozer

  • Price: £8.99
  • Number of pieces: 195
  • Age: 7+

Last but not least is the Technic Heavy Duty Bulldozer, which might be the best value set on this entire list. We find Technic builds to take longer to complete than regular Lego sets, thanks to the added complexity, so for £9 you’re getting a set that’s going to keep you occupied for much longer. In spite of being so small, it even has moving parts: the tracks turn, and you can raise and lower the blade at the front. Perfect.
