The best Lego sets released in 2024

2024 has been a fantastic year for Lego sets.

Best Lego Sets of 2024

As the year comes to an end, it’s only natural that we’re thinking about the best Lego sets to come out of 2024. There have been a lot of fantastic sets this year, and trying to pick our favourites hasn’t been easy. We’ve narrowed down to what we think are the 10 best sets released in 2024 — but we’ve also included some special mentions. You know, the sets that didn’t quite make the cut but that we still loved.

We’ve been sure not to just pick the big, expensive sets: some of the smaller sets released in 2024 have seriously impressed us, and we’re celebrating them in our round-up of the best sets of 2024, too.

What are your favourite sets of the year? We’d love to know — leave us a comment below.

10. Lego Creator 3-in-1 31152 Space Astronaut

One of our favourite Lego Creator sets of recent years is this wonderful astronaut. Lego has gone big into space this year, and the Space Astronaut is one of the best space-themed sets that won’t break the bank.

Along with the astronaut, you can build a space dog and a small space shuttle, but of course, the astronaut is the best model of the three. He comes with a stand to give him the appearance of being weightless, and his arms and legs are completely poseable — even his fingers can be arranged!

9. Lego Star Wars 75397 Jabba’s Sail Barge

From a budget-friendly Lego set to one of the most expensive sets released this year, the latest Ultimate Collector’s Series set very much deserves a place on our list of the best Lego sets of 2024. Jabba’s Sail Barge is absolutely huge, with some incredible details on the inside of the ship.

There are prison cells, entertainment rooms and more, with plenty of cool features and nods back to The Return of the Jedi. Perhaps our favourite inclusion, though, is the range of minifigures included here. It’s a fantastic collection, with the huge Jabba the Hutt big fig stealing the spotlight.

8. Lego Fortnite 77072 Peely Bone

We have to admit that when we found out Lego was releasing a bunch of Fortnite-themed sets, we rolled our eyes. Honestly, we expected them to be rather rubbish, aimed at kids with no real appeal for collectors and adults. We gladly ate our words when we saw what was revealed, though.

Of the four Fortnite sets released so far, Peely Bone is the only 18+ rated set, but we even love the rest of the range. This banana man has to be our favourite though: just look at him! Bet you didn’t have building ‘Lego intestines’ on your 2024 bingo card, did you?

7. Lego Batman 76328 The Classic TV Series Batmobile

The Classic TV Series Batmobile was a day one purchase for us. It seems like a real bargain too: £130 for a 1,822-piece set puts it amongst the best value for money sets. And that’s before we even get on to just how good it looks. The retro-styled Batmobile is absolutely stunning, and Lego has captured it beautifully here.

The red trim really makes the set stand out and, just like a UCS set, the Batmobile comes with an information plaque for display purposes, alongside a 1966-style Batman minifigure. Obviously the car isn’t minifig scale, but we’re always happy to see a minifigure included with a set regardless.

6. Lego Super Mario 71431 Bowser’s Muscle Car

The cheapest set on our list of the best Lego sets of 2024 is also one of the most fun. Technically, Bowser’s Muscle Car is an expansion to Lego’s Super Mario playset system, but we think this works very well as a standalone set. It’s colourful, fun-loving and an absolute must-have for any Mario fan.

Of course, if you do have other Super Mario sets to go alongside it, along with an electronic Mario, Luigi or Princess Peach figure, you can interact with it. An action tag on Bowser’s bag allows him to be scanned by an electronic figure and amalgamated into any playset course. But we’re just as happy having this set as a standalone on our desk.

5. Lego Ideas 21351 Disney Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas

This is Halloween! Surely everybody loves The Nightmare Before Christmas, and this Lego Ideas set is undoubtedly one of the best of the year. It’s a little different from the original Ideas submission but we can’t deny we’re utterly thrilled with the finished set.

It comes in three pieces: there’s Jack Skellington’s house, the Town Hall and Spiral Hill. Of course, you’ll get Jack and Sally minifigures, along with Santa Claus, Lock, Shock and Barrel and plus Zero the dog. There’s also a brick-built Mayor, with two interchangeable faces.

4. Lego Ideas 21348 Dungeons & Dragons: Red Dragon’s Tale

We of course had to include the Dungeons & Dragons: Red Dragon’s Tale set in our round-up of the best Lego sets of 2024. We love a good castle; we love a good dragon. This set combines them both, along with a whole host of other features. Even if you’re not a D&D fan there’s a lot to love here from an architectural point of view: the building is absolutely fabulous, and the dragon is just wonderful.

Alongside the castle keep, you’ll find an inn where your adventurers can gather and tell stories at the end of their day. Every part of the build is packed with lots of details, and we especially love the monster builds included with the set.

3. Lego Icons 10332 Medieval Town Square

What’s better than one Lego building? A whole village of them, of course. The Medieval Town Square packs ina huge amount of detail: there’s a farmhouse, a cheese factory, an Inn, a shieldsmith’s workshop and a watchtower. Built into two separate structures, the whole thing is simply beautiful, with some fantastic building designs employed. You’ll be creating thatched roofs, wooden-clad buildings and more, each with full interiors and lots of little detail.

Along with eight minifigures, the Medieval Town Square also comes with a few animals, including a goat, a cat and a squirrel. If you’ve got any other Lego ‘medieval’ style buildings, like the Blacksmith, they’ll look great stood alongside this set. But this is stunning enough all by itself.

2. Lego Harry Potter 76437 The Burrow – Collectors’ Edition

For Harry Potter fans, this year’s The Burrow – Collector’s Edition is an absolute must-have. It’s the largest recreation of the Weasleys’ home yet, and it’s packed with loads of whimsical details that we just absolutely love. There’s the magical Weasley clock, for instance, and an enchanted kitchen sink that can wash its own dishes. Its furnishings and fixtures are purposefully wonky, too, perfectly capturing the essence of the Weasley homestead.

There’s an excellent collection of minifigures here, including the entire Weasley family — it’s the first time we’ve ever had minifigs of Charlie and Bill. There’s also Errol, the family’s clumsy owl. And, of course, a Floo network fireplace. If only it really worked…

1. Lego Ideas 21353 The Botanical Garden

Finally, our number one pick of all the sets to release this year: the Lego Ideas Botanical Garden. It’s an absolutely stunning set, and perhaps one of the nicest Lego Ideas sets ever released. We love that it works perfectly by itself, but it can also be incorporated into a Modular set-up. Put it at the side of the Parisian Café or the Boutique Hotel and it’s going to look right at home.

The details here are incredible, and if you are a bit of a botanist yourself, you’ll find over 35 plant species at home in and around the garden. There’s also a café inside the greenhouse, along with some beautiful details like a mezzanine level and decorative flower beds. The finishing touch is a number of Lego animals, including a dog, a squirrel, a rabbit and some birds.

Special mentions

There have been hundreds of sets released in 2024, and while we’ve chosen what we think are the 10 best above, there are lots of other sets we loved this year, too. We don’t want to leave out some of our other favourites, so here are our special mentions from 2024’s Lego lineup:
