Lego Botanical Collection Plum Blossom review
Bloomin’ lovely.

I couldn’t be more excited for Lego’s cheaper range of Botanical Collection sets. I’m a big fan of the Botanical Collection, simply because (generally speaking) the sets are always so beautiful. Lego 10369 Plum Blossom is no exception — in fact, it earned a special mention in my round-up of the best Lego sets of 2024.
Half the price of a typical Botanical Collection set, the Plum Blossom is understandably a little smaller — but it’s every bit as beautiful, and looks absolutely wonderful on a mantelpiece or shelf. Hooray for Lego that doesn’t look out of place in a formal sitting room.

What’s in the box?
Inside the box of Lego Botanical Collection 10369 Plum Blossom is three numbered bags of bricks. The bags here are paper, as we’re seeing Lego reduce their throwaway plastic more and more. There’s, of course, also an instruction booklet, which comes with some gorgeous full-colour pages providing information about the real-life Plum Blossom tree.
Naturally, there are no stickers to be found here.

Lego Botanical Collection Plum Blossom review: The build
Building the Lego Botanical Collection Plum Blossom is an absolute joy. The instructions are some of the best I’ve used, truthfully. Steps are easy to follow and they’re very well printed. I particularly enjoyed pages like the below, which provided a 1:1 side-on view of how your bricks should look when building the stems — very useful for ensuring you’re keeping on track.

The Plum Blossom comes with a gorgeously-designed brick-built pot, which is a pleasure to put together. For a small set, it manages to be wonderfully intricate, with a gold band around, and brown feet that resemble a small wooden stand. It looks fantastic, and provides a solid and sturdy base for the plant.

Of course, it’s the Plum Blossom plant itself that’s the real star here. Putting together the flowers is a little repetitive, and it’s easier if you build multiple at once. There are two different building techniques used, because the plant has three four-petal flowers and two five-petal flowers. Personally, I prefer the four-petal variant: it’s a little difficult to get all the petals correctly aligned on the five-petal variant.
But I suppose if a flower is a little wonky, it just adds to the charm and realism of the set. After all, no two flowers in nature are ever identical. The red colour is striking and coupled with the yellow ‘crowns’ used for the centre of the flowers, they really stand out and draw in your eye.

Play or display?
There’s absolutely no play functionality in the Plum Blossom. That’s the nature of Lego’s Botanical Collection: these sets are purely designed for decoration, and that’s why they’re labelled as 18+ sets.
But for a display piece? Wow. Lego Botanical Collection 10369 Plum Blossom looks absolutely delightful, and for just £24.99, it adds a wonderful splash of colour to any room. You might want to ensure it’s out of reach of any particularly curious toddlers or pets, though. The base seems pretty sturdy, but I wouldn’t like to risk it getting knocked over.
Lego Botanical Collection Plum Blossom review: Value for money?
The Lego Plum Blossom is absolutely worth every penny. For just £24.99, this is just as lovely as the Botanical Collection sets costing more than twice the price. It’s a little smaller, but still packs in a great deal of detail. It’s the sort of set that you can put on display anywhere and it’ll brighten up any room. And even non-Lego lovers are going to get a kick out of this.
