This gigantic Lego Brick Separator is a thing of beauty
Throw all your old tools away, this Lego Brick Separator is all you need.
Does someone you know have a whole cupboard full of tools? Maybe you’re a keen DIY-er and you’ve got a wall filled with hacksaws, screwdrivers, crowbars and more. Well, you can throw them all in the bin because a Lego fan has created the One Ring of tools – a gigantic Lego Brick Separator.
It’s the work of Reddit user YogiAU, who 3D printed it using a design from MakerWorld. They don’t specify how long it is, but going by the smaller Lego Brick Separator in the picture (included in some sets), it’s around 38cm or 15 inches long. It’s a shame our 3D printer broke, because we’re seriously tempted to print it out and turn up at a building site, asking if they need any help.
“Sometimes you need more leverage,” YogiAU explains, going on to add that they used 230g of filament to print it, nearly 1/4 of a reel. They could have gone bigger, but with a 3D printer you’re limited by the size of your print plate. You can position something diagonally to make a little larger, but as YogiAU points out, it needs more supports which, in turn, guzzles more filament.
Surprisingly, this isn’t the first time someone has made an oversized Lego Brick Separator. As reported by Beyond the Brick, a group at the I LUG NY Lego event made a giant Lego Brick Separator using.. Lego. That said, we’d imagine YogiAU’s 3D printer version is less inclined to shatter when you’re using it to build your patio.

On a completely unrelated note, The University of Maine currently has the world’s largest 3D printer and is capable of printing objects 96 feet long. Just saying.
