This self-loading Lego Star Wars gunship is brilliant and hypnotic
Capacity! Unlimited Capacity!

Move over Newton’s cradle, this amazing kinetic Lego Star Wars gunship build is so hypnotic we could watch it for hours and hours and hours. Granted, we might have to change the battery occasionally but it’s undeniably cool.
The model, which features both Lego’s Star Wars Coruscant Guard Gunship and pieces of a Technic set, is an engineering marvel. Modelled on the end of Star Wars Episode 2: Attack of the Clones, clone minifigures march in, and march in, and march in and… they don’t come out. What’s going on?
Naturally, there’s no clown car physics going on here, and while creator Vandjac doesn’t show the model’s internals, it’s not hard to figure out what’s going on. The minifigures are attached to a conveyor (Vandjac had the idea when he got his hands on some technic treads) and once inside the gunship they flip over, still on the treads.
They’re then conveyed back to the tower, up and through, and the whole process begins again. You can clearly see them tipping over once they enter the gunship. But knowing how it works doesn’t make it any less impressive; it’s an awesome build to watch in action.
It’s not the first kinetic sculpture Vandjac has made; on a much smaller scale, they also put together this Darth Vader vs Ahsoka Tano. We’re a big fan of Lego models, Lego Ideas and otherwise, that feature movement, even if it’s only small, like this Lego Ideas Outrun model. You can watch the gunship in action above, or in the original Reddit thread, but don’t blame us when your whole afternoon’s gone.
