The LEGO Volkswagen T1 Camper Van is perhaps one of the most iconic (and longest-running) LEGO Creator Expert sets. It ran for almost a decade before being discontinued in late 2020. And now, a successor has been announced to take its place: the LEGO Volkswagen T2 Camper Van.
The Volkswagen T2 Camper Van is larger than its predecessor: it has almost 900 more pieces and is around 5cm longer. Naturally, it has a much higher price tag to go with its new dimensions: when it releases on 1st August, it will cost £149.99. In comparison, the previous VW Camper Van had a RRP of £84.99. Here’s the original Camper Van if you need a refresher.
Thanks to having a different shape and a different colour, though, the two models do look independent of each other; this isn’t simply a re-release – it’s based on a different version of VW’s iconic camper. The two LEGO sets will look incredible side-by-side if you already happen to have the other in your collection.

It features working steering, a pop-up roof and a full interior. Inside you’ll find a kitchenette, a seating area and a table. There are also two fold-out deckchairs and a surfboard to be displayed outside. There’s a sliding door to access the interior, and the roof can be lifted off for better access too.
Going by the pictures, it seems the set comes with a range of stickers that can be used to decorate the Volkswagen T2 Camper Van to give it that true ‘hippie’ vibe.
