Eight New LEGO Harry Potter Sets Have Been Revealed

Accio new LEGO sets! Today, LEGO has revealed no less than eight new Harry Potter sets, set to release on 1st June. These are part of a “LEGO Harry Potter 20 Years” anniversary celebration, and many of the sets contain a limited edition ‘Golden’ minifigure – in the same way as we saw with Ninjago anniversary sets earlier this year.

There’s a wide range of sets available, with the main bulk being playsets aimed at younger builders. But some are surprisingly unique, and we’re excited to get our hands on them. Without further ado, here are the eight new sets.

Hogwarts: First Flying Lesson

  • 264 pieces
  • RRP £27.99
  • Four minifigures: Neville Longbottom, Draco Malfoy, Madam Hooch and a Golden Professor Quirrell

This is one of a few smaller sets, but there are some nice details here: we love the flags on the outside of the building, and the Hogwarts statue is a nice touch.

Fawkes, Dumbledore’s Phoenix

  • 597 pieces
  • RRP £34.99
  • One minifigure: Albus Dumbledore (plus a miniature Fawkes)

If you own Hedwig, then Fawkes makes the perfect companion piece. It’s built in the same style, with a wing flap mechanism. We might like this one even more than Hedwig though – the colours are striking, and what’s not to love about Fawkes?

Hogwarts Wizard’s Chess

  • 876 pieces
  • RRP £64.99
  • Four minifigures: Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley and a golden Severus Snape.

We love a good LEGO chess set, and a Harry Potter one is an obvious choice. This one looks great, thanks to the candle details around the board, and the inclusion of Harry, Ron and Hermione minifigures to give it a sense of scale. It really does look like the Wizard Chess scene!

Harry Potter & Hermione Granger

  • 1673 pieces
  • RRP £119.99

Well, we’re really intrigued by these: buildable giant minifigures. Does this mean we’ll see similar models in other series? We absolutely wouldn’t be surprised if LEGO Star Wars and Marvel minifigs get the same treatment soon.

Hogwarts Chamber of Secrets

  • 1176 pieces
  • RRP £129.99
  • 11 minifigures: Harry, Ginny, Tom Riddle, Colin Creevey, Justin Finch-Fletchley, Luna Lovegood, Gilderoy Lockhart, Albus Dumbledore, Professor Sinistra, Nearly Headless Nick and a Golden Voldemort

Despite the price, this re-release of Chamber of Secrets looks very much like a giant playset to us. It doesn’t seem to be part of the interconnecting range we’ve seen over the last few years (Great Hall, Whomping Willow, Clock Tower, Astronomy Tower). The classic green roof is back, making it look more like the Harry Potter sets from the 2000s.

Hogwarts: Polyjuice Potion Mistake

  • 217 pieces
  • RRP £17.99
  • Four minifigures: Ron, Harry, Hermione, and a Golden Harry Potter

Another very small set, but we’re digging the faucet details. Not to mention the cat mask that comes with Hermione.

Hogwarts: Fluffy Encounter

  • 397 pieces
  • RRP £34.99
  • Four minifigures: Ron, Harry, Hermione and a Golden Hermione Granger

We can’t say we’re very enamoured with the build here, but the buildable Fluffy model is clearly the selling feature. It’s not every day you get a three-headed dog made out of LEGO.

Hogsmeade Village Visit

  • 851 pieces
  • RRP £69.99
  • Seven minifigures: Harry, Dean Thomas, Professor McGonagall, Madam Rosmerta, Mr. Flume, Mrs. Flume and a Golden Ron Weasley

We love this Hogsmeade Village set. If you own the Winter Village sets or the ages-old Medieval Village, this will look at home with them. We even reckon they’d look quite good next to the huge Diagon Alley set – though of course they’re slightly smaller. But we love the snow detail, and the ‘old world’ feel of the buildings.

Again, all the new LEGO Harry Potter sets will be available from 1st June. You can browse them all and find more information on the LEGO website.
