The Next LEGO Ideas Set to Enter Production is The Hocus Pocus House

LEGO Ideas Hocus Pocus

The third LEGO Ideas review of 2022 has just been held, and only one set has been chosen out of 35 candidates. That set is Hocus Pocus: The Sanderson Sisters Cottage.

Designed by Amber Veyt (known as ‘TheAmbrinator‘ on LEGO Ideas), the set is a replica of the house from 1993 movie Hocus Pocus. It’s clearly going to appeal to fans of the film since it’s packed with Easter eggs and little nods to the movie. But even if you’ve never seen the film, you’ll surely appreciate what a beautiful building it is.

Veyt’s original design measures 45cm x 41cm by 46cm, and is made up of 2,992 parts. It’s a fairly large-scale set, then. But of course, in the hands of trained LEGO designers, Ideas projects often change before hitting stores. It may get bigger or smaller; we’ll just have to wait and see.

The LEGO Ideas page lays out some of the cool features found in the set:

  • The spellbook that turned Thackery Binx into a black cat
  • A spinning water wheel
  • A portrait of the Sanderston sisters’ master
  • Flying broomsticks (and a hoover for Mary)
  • Cages for prisoners
  • An opening grave for Billy
  • A triple bed for the Sanderson sisters

It’s clear a lot of love and care has gone into bringing the house from Hocus Pocus to life. But why choose this set? Well, 2023 marks the 30th anniversary of the movie, making it the perfect time to celebrate it. It’s also an ideal holiday set, and with the popularity of the Home Alone house, LEGO is likely looking for something similar.

We don’t know when LEGO Ideas Hocus Pocus will be available, but we’d wager that Halloween 2023 will be a likely possibility.
