The next LEGO Ideas set is just the turn of a light away. The Motorised Lighthouse will be available in LEGO stores and on LEGO.com from 1st September.
Designed by Sandro Quattrini, The LEGO Ideas Motorised Lighthouse was first accepted for production back in June 2021. It was the only set from a shortlist of 25, beating out designs like Wallace & Gromit and the Starbug from Red Dwarf to earn its place on store shelves.
As always, the final design differs slightly from the original Ideas concept. The lighthouse itself is a little smoother, and the building sitting at the base is larger – it’s now minifigure-scale, for one. The cliff face has been made a little more dramatic, and clear bricks have been used cleverly to give the impression of waves crashing against the shore. It looks fantastic, in all honesty.
It’s, of course, motorised as the name suggests, featuring a revolving light atop the tower. It really lights up, too, making a stunning display piece. If you happen to own the Old Fishing Shack from some years ago, we think this will make an excellent pairing.
The Motorised Lighthouse is made up of 2,065 parts, and stands tall at 54cm/21.5 inches. But it doesn’t come cheap. Its RRP is £264.99. For a 2,000 piece set, that’s very steep – but of course the motor elements here are going to push up the price. It’s also launching just as LEGO increases their prices company-wide.
Still, this is a great-looking set, and we’re excited to see it in the flesh. Will you be adding this to your collection? Let us know by commenting below.
