LEGO Has Revealed the Atari 2600, Coming on 1st August

LEGO Atari 2600

First, we had a LEGO Nintendo Entertainment System. Now, we’re getting a LEGO Atari 2600.

Honestly, we couldn’t be happier about LEGO’s frequent crossovers into the world of video games. It’s a collision of two of our favourite things (did you know That Brick Site has a sister site dedicated to video games?) and LEGO seems keen to keep pushing for products aimed at gamers. We’ll take it. The latest model is LEGO Icons 10306 Atari 2600, and it looks absolutely fantastic.

This is a complete brick-built replica of a real Atari 2600, complete with wooden panel and control knobs. There’s also an accompanying joystick, three cartridges (Asteroids, Adventure and Centipede) and three accompanying models representing each of the three games. Essentially, if you’re a retro fan, this is an absolute must-have.

As a nice little Easter egg, there’s an “80s scene” hidden inside the console. It features a minifigure sat in a bedroom set up, playing on a miniature console. Adventure was one of the first games to contain an Easter egg, and this scene offers a nod to that.

Now: the most important detail. The LEGO Atari 2600 will cost £209.99/$239.99 when it launches on 1st August. It’s made up of 2,532 pieces, and it’ll be exclusive to LEGO.com and LEGO stores.

We imagine this is going to be a popular model, so expect it to be regularly out of stock on the website. Keep an eye out on 1st August and act fact if you want to grab it!
