The worlds of LEGO and Transformers are about to collide: LEGO has revealed Transformers: Optimus Prime is coming to stores on 1st June.
LEGO 10302 Transformers: Optimus Prime is an 18+ set made up of 1,508 pieces and it’ll retail for £149.99/$169.99.
Like a true Transformer, the LEGO model can convert between a Robot and alternative model. A few bends and folds – 19 articulation points, in fact – and Optimus Prime becomes a truck. Excitingly, this is the first time a LEGO model has been able to convert between two models without needing any rebuilding.
There’s all the bells and whistles you’d expect to find here, too. Optimus Prime complete with an ion blaster, Energon axe, an Energon Cube and the Autobox Matrix of Leadership. There’s even room to store the Matrix inside Optimus Prime’s chest chamber.
It also comes with a UCS-style information plaque, which has become more common with 18+ sets recently.
As you’d expect from Optimus Prime, the set is pretty sizeable. In Robot Mode, it measures of 13.5 inches tall. In Truck Mode, it’s 5.5 inches high, 10.5 inches long and 4.5 inches wide.
More information is available on the LEGO website. Pre-orders aren’t available, but you can buy it exclusively from LEGO from 1st June.
