This Lego Ideas Monorail submission is awesome, and it needs to get made

A Lego suspended monorail.

Simpsons jokes aside, monorails are pretty excellent and this Lego Ideas Lego Monorail submission is the perfect way of rendering their awesomeness in Lego.

Sure, there are plenty of regular Lego trains, including the newly-released Lego Orient Express set. But, even though they’re in real-world use, there’s something sci-fi about suspended monorails. And we love it.

This Working Suspension Railway submission, which features the train, station and an oval section of rail, is the work of builder Baron von Barron. They’ve previously submitted some excellent entries, including a Lego log flume, a hydroelectric power plant and more. This latest set has been chosen as a Lego Staff Pick which will has boosted its profile.

Does that mean it’s getting made? Not necessarily, since Staff Picks have nothing to do with the 10,000 supporter mark that the set needs to reach. But they’re nearly at the 5,000 supporter mark which will give them another six months to hit that target.

Would we buy this set? Absolutely, and we’ve also got our fingers crossed that the Baron’s Lego Log Flume set becomes a reality too. You can check the monorail/suspension railway out here and, if you’ve got or create a Lego Ideas account, vote for it here.
