LEGO is Donating $16.5 Million to Support Ukrainian Children and Families

In an overwhelming gesture announced yesterday, LEGO is donating DKK 110 million (approximately $16.5 million USD) to charities supporting children and families in Ukraine.

The donation is coming through three separate companies: The LEGO Foundation, Ole Kirk’s Fond and the LEGO Group. A statement published on Learning Through Play reads as follows:

At the LEGO Foundation we have a long standing partnership with Ukraine to bring learning through play to children across the country.

We are watching with deep concern as the terrible situation there develops, and we are providing support to our own staff and partners there.

We stand in solidarity with the people of Ukraine – in particular our partners, staff and their families, and with all Ukrainian children at this terrible time of war.

This is a huge sum of money that should go some way to helping the suffering of people in a terrible situation. The money will be distributed between different charities including UNICEF, Save the Children and the Red Cross.

Thank you, LEGO, for your kind gesture.
