Out on 1st June, This Up-Scaled Minifigure Has a Really Cool Secret

LEGO 40649 Up-Scaled Minifigure

Ever since LEGO released Harry and Hermione, we’ve been wondering when the company would release more giant brick-built minifigures. If you can get to Billund’s LEGO House, there’s an exclusive pirate to buy. But for those of us who can’t get to Denmark, all is not lost. An Up-Scaled Minifigure is coming to LEGO Stores on June 1st. He might be a basic, run-of-the-mill minifig, but in giant form he looks just splendid.

Outfitted with blue trousers, a red jumper and a blue cap, I feel like we’ve all probably got several variants of this simple LEGO man around our house. He’s about as bog-standard as minifigures come. But in a way, that makes him the perfect choice to give the up-scaling treatment to. Made up of 654 pieces, its RRP of £44.99 feels more than reasonable.

There’s a very nifty hidden feature in the Up-Scaled Minifigure that we absolutely love. The figure’s hat lifts up, revealing a standard-sized minifigure behind a set of controls. In other words, this Up-Scaled Minifigure is actually a giant mech!

It also has plenty of moving parts: its arms can be posed, and its legs can be in a standing or sitting position. The head can also rotate, giving it the same range of movement as a regular minifigure.
